Raleigh, North Carolina is the second largest in North Carolina. It is the home for only one professional sports franchise, the Carolina Hurricanes (NHL). They play their games at the PNC Arena. The Hurricanes gave their state their first professional championship in any sport when they won the 2006 Stanley Cup. Raleigh is also the home of the North Carolina State University Wolfpack. The city also has a great taste for theater. The Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts is the place in town to see the major theater production that come into town as well as the local productions. Some other great places to catch theater in Raleigh are: Lincoln Theatre, PNC Arena, and Raleigh Little Theatre. As far as music goes, the Time Warner Cable Pavilion at Walnut Creek will provide you with the biggest and best shows of the year. Other great venues include: Raleigh Amphitheatre and Festival Site, Dorton Arena, and PNC Arena.
